- The Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole has charged Nigerians to be conscious of the need to keep the environment clean and to work towards hygienic living standard in other to prevent the spread of Lassa fever.
He made this call at a seminar on the prevention of the spread of Lassa Fever in Lagos. Prof. Adewole said it is important to keep our environment clean and tidy up our abode, making sure that dirt are not left to pile up unnecessarily. He noted that it is of utmost importance to keep our environment clean and to always make sure that we wash our hands before eating.
The Minister said all hands must be on deck to ensure the widespread of the dreaded Lassa fever is presented, noting that people are ignorant of the dangerous effect of dirty and unkempt environment. Adewole also advised healthv officers to take precautionary measures as they are always on the line being the ones who have direct contact with the patients. unfortunate that in the case of the Lassa fever epidemic which resurgence has been observed in Ondo state, the Matron who contacted it transfered it to her daughter, adding that health officers should not be ignorant of the risks involved in their daily contacts with patients.
