Nigerian Television Authority Okitipupa has organized a get together for the elderly in the Ondo South senatorial district. The party for the elderly held on Easter Monday within the premises of the television station at Okitipupa, The event featured highlights such as Nutritional talk, health talk and health check. Also featured at the get together was “the needle and thread” competition, which saw octogenarians and nonagenarians fix thread into the tiny needle holes w In his medical counsel to the elderly at the event, Dr. Adesoji noted that growing old is a rare gift of God, stressing that there are health issues that come with old age, which the aged must be conscious of. He advised the elderly to always check their blood pressure and not to abuse drugs because of the delicate nature of their body system at such an advanced age.
Earlier, Senator Onukun (OON) had saluted the novelty of the get together for the elderly, noting that the new management of the station are up and doing. While congratulating the Officer in charge, Mr. Dickson Ogunmola for the idea, he asked that Ikale stakeholders should support the big dream of the management of the station so that the nation can grow and expand.
Also speaking at the event, the manager, NTA Akure, Mr. Tunde Oladunjoye saluted the steadfastness of The OIC, Dickson Ogunmola for replicating in Okitipupa the programme they used to hold for the aged way back in Akure. Oladunjoye solicited the support of Ikale people and asked for their cooperation with the management of NTA okitipupa.
In his own remark, the Officer in charge of the station, Dickson Ogunmola thanked all the elderly people who were invited and who graced the party. While stressing his resolve to improve the lot of the station, he noted that NTA Okitipupa is a federal structure for the benefit of the entire people of Ondo South senatorial district and the people of the district should see it as such so that all hands will be on deck towards advancing the course of the growth of the station.
Biripo maestro, High Chief Tola Emaye was on the band stand to serenade the party as the elderly whined their waist as they took to the dance floor wriggling their body to the lyrics of the Biripo music.
The eldest person at the party, Chief Akarigbo, aged 102, who still read the bible without the aid of contact lens, spoke with the polity. Com at the event. When asked the secret of his energy as a centinarian , he said his secret is God, adding that anyone who wants to reach old age should take his mind off life troubles and challenges and should focus on God for sustainability .
The special guests of the station were treated to a sumptuous lunch while the compere dished out rib cracking jokes.
Among the dignitaries at the event were The Abodi of Ikale who was represented by Olori Grace Faduyile, The Ahaba of Ajagba, Oba Thomas Adesayo, The Obagberunme of Igodan, Oba Ayeku, The Oniju of Iju Odo, Olori Modeola Akindele and others.
