As Nigeria races towards a decisive 2023 General elections, the All Progressives Congress, APC Presidential candidate , Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred with prominent Yoruba Monarchs in Ibadan , the Oyo State Capital. The meeting was held to present the political and philosophical standpoint of the APC standard flag bearer to the foremost traditional rulers of Yoruba land in keeping up with the wise saying ” charity begins at home.”

Addressing journalists before the closed door session with the Monarchs, the APC Presidential campaign Council noted that Asiwaju was meeting with the traditional rulers to solicit their support as well as to reach out to the reverred traditional institutions of the Southwest on the need to help sustain peace before , during and after the general elections, after which the meeting held behind closed door.

Meanwhile, foremost Ondo State traditional ruler, the Abodi of Ikaleland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba George Babatunde Faduyile, Adegun, the 2nd has stressed the need for Nigeria to remain an indivisible entity as the nation gravitates towards the D Day of the year 2023 General elections even as he noted that elections are meant to consolidate a nation’s Democratic credentials and not to split the country into smithereens.

Oba Faduyile who engaged thepolity.net in an exclusive chat said Nigeria has been going through electoral processes in the time past and had been coming off it a stronger and better Democracy, therefore Nigerians should first and foremost bear in mind that there is life after election, stressing that a one day exercise to elect the next round of leaders for the country should not generate toxic discourse that will threaten the continued existence of the nation.

” I want to call on Nigerians to give peace a chance as not even the leaders can govern a nation from which peace and tranquility have taken flight.

” Both politicians and ordinary Nigerians need a stable Nigeria for everyone to survive, therefore before, during and after the election, we need peace in the country.

” We are pleading with all the key actors to maintain the peace.The elections to hold in Nigeria are suppose to consolidate on our pride of place as a mature Democracy in the comity of nations, therefore all Nigerians of good conscience should work for a free and fair and credible elections that all can reference as a defining process through which Nigeria and Nigerians have consolidated the Transition process,” Abodi, Oba George Faduyile counseled.

The reverred Yoruba Monarch threw his weight behind the Asiwaju Bola Tinubu Presidential bid, describing Tinubu as a candidate with formidable political pedigree.
