A new Chief Magistrate court cited at Igodan Lisa in Okitipupa Local Government area, Southern senatorial district of Ondo state , through the outstanding input and instrumentality of Hon. Ogundeji Iroju, Deputy Speaker , Ondo state House of Assembly , has been inaugurated. The inauguration which held on Wednesday, the 27th December was a memorable development for the people of the community.
While cutting the tape to officially declare open the new court, Ondo state Acting Chief Judge, Hon .Justice Akeredolu noted that the epoch making inauguration marks the giant stride of the state Judiciary in ensuring that administration of Justice is taken to the grassroots, adding that the credit of this successful development in Igodan Lisa community goes to Hon.Deji Iroju , who showed an outstanding determination towards ensuring that the presence of the state justice system is felt at Igodan Lisa and its neighbouring communities.
Hon Justice Akeredolu , while saluting the cooperation of Hon. Iroju maintained that he identified with the determination of the Ondo state Judiciary for better services throughout the length and breadth of Ondo state. The Acting Chief Judge called on the people of Igodan to ensure the edifice is secured and protected from vandals , asking the people of Igodan to henceforth refrain from taking laws into their hands since they now have a court very close to them where matters could be heard and adjudicated on . While congratulating the people, Justice Akeredolu urged them to always ensure that members of the judiciary posted to the court are protected at all time.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Kabiesi, His Royal Highness , Oba Akinsola appreciated the Judiciary for deeming it fit to register its presence at Igodan, adding that the people are extremely grateful to the government for its determination to ensure matters are resolved through the instrumentality of the law within the ambience of the laid down judicial procedure and not through raw show of might , which is a throw back to the laws of the jungle. He promised on behalf of the people of Igodan to ensure the safety of lives of judiciary that will be posted to the Chief magistrate court.
Also in his reaction, secretary of Igodan Lisa community, Chief Aduwo thanked the state government for giving the community a magistrate court. He added that this will save the people the extra cost of going to Okitipupa or Akure to get their briefs heard.
While chatting with the polity.com on the sideline of the inauguration , the Deputy Speaker Ondo state House of Assembly , Hon Ogundeji Iroju said he was delighted that Igodan Lisa is no longer a village as the community hosts the state university of science and Technology and now has a chief magistrate court. He said the inauguration is a dream come true for him because God made it possible for him to be able to contribute to the growth of Igodan Lisa through the realisation of this project, noting that one cannot discountenance the possibility of a rise in crime rate in the town considering the fact that it has a university with attendant high rate of student population. He therefore called on the people of the town to ensure they avail themselves of the opportunity the Chief magistrate court provides rather than taking laws into their hands, while also calling on them to eschew violence. In his yuletide message to his people, Hon. Iroju advised the people to be patient with government, adding that more government presence will be felt in the town as time goes on.
