Former Sokoto Governor Aminu Tambuwal has pledged to work for the democratic removal of President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election. He made this declaration during a television interview where he discussed his recent questioning by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Tambuwal directly linked his EFCC invitation to his political activities. He leads opposition efforts within the African Democratic Congress and stated that the administration is “worried” by his work to unite parties against it.
“I am 100 percent committed to a process that would democratically and lawfully send this government out of office,” Tambuwal said. He emphasized his goal is a constitutional change of power when Tinubu’s term ends.
When asked about rumored Northern plots against the president, Tambuwal drew a clear line. He confirmed widespread discontent but stated he is not part of any secret regional group seeking Tinubu’s immediate exit.
Instead, he described his role as part of a “national coalition.” This group aims for a change in government through the 2027 ballot box, not by any other means.
The politician’s allegations add to rising tensions between the ruling party and a forming opposition alliance. His claims spotlight the fierce political battles expected ahead of the next election cycle.
The presidency and EFCC have not yet responded to Tambuwal’s specific accusations. The development signals an escalating war of words as the nation’s political focus shifts toward 2027.
