Omoyele Olabode cautions politicians against malicious remarks.
An Ondo State All Progressives Congress,APC stakeholder, Mr. Omoyele Olabode has appealed to politicians across political divide in Nigeria to do away with caustic , bitter and malicious remarks that can heat up the polity, noting that it is against the run of play for presumed leaders to indulge broadsides to score political point.
Omoyele gave this indication while reacting to the toxic exchanges between Dele Momodu of Ovation Publishers and the duo of Chief Femi Fani Kayode and Reno Omokri.
It will be recalled that Fani Kayode and Reno Omokri were both Ambassadorial appointees of President Bola Tinubu who had just been posted out of the country on foreign diplomatic missions.
In a series of tweets last week which were reported by major national dailies, the duo of Fani Kayode and Reno Omokri went deep in their attack against Dele Momodu over issues bordering on Politics as they both accused Momodu of biting the fingers that fed him, alluding to Momodu’s attack on the President.
Omoyele Olabode charged these prominent Nigerians and others in the elite political class to do away with personal attacks on one another at the expense of politicking, stressing that there are more issues of development in the polity that should engage the consciousness of the political class.
” The Nigerian Political class is filled with gladiators who share at different times divergent opinions. Yes, interests intertwine and interest can as well be divergent. What matters is that political interest at different times and on varying discourses should not double down to personality attack such as the polity was treated to among prominent political gladiators as we saw last week. Our politics is too big to descend into the abyss of personal attacks,” Omoyele Olabode appealed.
He said the elite class of politicians in Nigeria are models with a huge followership and the followers look forward to edifying discourse about Nigeria from them beyond cracking up the past on respective individuals.
While saluting President Bola Tinubu for engaging Chief Fani Kayode and Reno Omokri as Ambassadors, he noted that as a keen watcher of the strides of these two Prominent APC politicians , he is very positive about the achievement they will record as foreign envoys.
