Omoyele condemns rise in insecurity, charges communities to assist security agencies with details.

Omoyele Olabode, an All Progressives Congress, APC stalwart from Ondo South has expressed his concern over the increase in insecurity in Nigeria, Particularly the core North, charging members of the border communities not to withhold local intelligence.

Omoyele in an exclusive chat with newsmen noted that there are strong chances of collaboration between some members of border communities and a broad section of the terrorist cell groups.

He noted that in every community there are people who are always aware of the goings on within the swathe of the local landscape, soliciting for the strengthening of the community policing mechanism which allows for processing of local intelligence between the people and the Police on one hand and inter agency collaboration on the other hand.

Omoyele said border security should be beefed up between Nigeria and the border control outputs across the North East and North central, adding that there is a high level of infiltration by foreigners into Nigeria who do not mean well for the country.

He said as Nigerians , we cannot just sit in the corner of our cubicle and continue to blame government for national insecurity, stating that securing a country from external aggression is a collective approach and if the villagers keep being infiltrated by terrorists and foreign bandits and the locals who are aware of this development are withholding news of such development from the appropriate authorities, communities will continue to be experiencing invasion threat. “You see, growing up we used to have this Mass Mobilization body established by government. It was called MAMSER. What the agency did was to mobilize and cause general awareness about what the members of the society should do. So, we are saying there should be awareness and the members of the border communities should help government to help them.

“It is not possible for people living in Konduga, Banki, kukawa and other villages along those axis not to have noticed strange movement, ” Omoyele said, emphasizing the need for prompt relaying of strange movement to the Police and Military outposts.

He commiserated with the families of Military men who have to pay the ultimate price in the course of securing the country and warding off the aggressors, while noting that they are the real heroes of the Nigerian State.
