Fibroid doesnt melt, not passed as stool; requires effective treatment – Prof. Faduyile.

Prof. Dayo Faduyile , OON, has called attention to the danger of Fibroids, a non cancerous lumps that grow in\on the uterus, describing it as most common mass in women of child bearing age . The Special Adviser on Health, Ondo State gave this indication in an exlusive chat with thepolity.net , while fieding questions on matters concerning the healthy wellbeing of the citizenry.

” It must be noted that up to 80 percent of black women have fibroids and this can be single or multiple.

” Causes of Fibroids are largely unknown; however, the risk factors include age, race, overweight,use of alcohol, family history , use of birth control , excess consumption of red meat , less consumption of vegetables and fruits among other factors,” the Professor of Medicine stressed.

The Medical expert noted that in the presentation of Fibroids, there is no symptom for small to intermediate sizes, adding that there is buldging lower abdominal mass like pregnancy in its presentation. ” Fibroids brings about heavy menstrual bleeding and prolonged menstrual period over one week as well as bleeding between normal periods.”

On Medical solution to Fibroids and its growth , the former National President, Nigeria Medical Association was emphatic, “fibroids can be effectively treated medically through surgery depending on age , obvious presence of symptoms , the desire to get pregnant and location of fibroid in the body.”

He maintained that it is an erroneous belief that the non cancerous growth in women can be melted or be passed off as stool, while stressing that subjecting the growth to the consumption of herbs for cure can be counter productive to the health of women.

” I will advise that women who observe strange growth in their uterus should seek medical advice by seeing their doctor early enough,” Prof. Fadule added.
