Aiyedatiwa, Poroye Deliver Impactful Leadership as OSOPADEC Flags Off Major Relief, Recovery Drive in Ilaje

In a bold demonstration of responsive governance and grassroots impact, Ondo State Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, in collaboration with the Executive Chairman of OSOPADEC, Prince Biyi Poroye, has launched a comprehensive relief and recovery initiative targeting affected communities in Ilaje Local Government Area.

The intervention, executed by the Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC), saw the distribution of relief materials to residents of Obe-Nla, Obe-Adun, and Obe-Jedo communities impacted by the October 2025 incident.

At the flag-off ceremony in Igbokoda, Poroye highlighted that the initiative is a direct reflection of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to inclusive development, rapid response, and sustainable transformation of mandate areas. He described the Governor’s approval of the intervention in January 2026 as both timely and strategic.

“This is leadership that listens and acts,” Poroye stated, emphasizing that the programme goes beyond emergency response to laying the groundwork for long-term prosperity.

The relief package includes food items, clothing, mattresses, and essential household supplies, carefully distributed to alleviate immediate hardship and restore dignity to affected families.

In alignment with Governor Aiyedatiwa’s development agenda, OSOPADEC under Poroye’s leadership has also rolled out a robust recovery framework focused on economic empowerment and infrastructure renewal. The Commission has procured high-capacity outboard engines to boost local fishing activities, while the construction of fishing boats is already underway.

Additionally, more than 25 houses have been earmarked for renovation, with severely affected structures scheduled for complete reconstruction. Contractors have since been mobilised, with project timelines ranging between four to six weeks.

Further strengthening economic resilience, plans are in place for the construction of a modern bakery to replace the one lost during the crisis. The facility is expected to generate employment and stimulate local enterprise upon completion.

Poroye commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for his visionary leadership and unwavering support for the people of the oil-producing communities, noting that the administration’s proactive approach has redefined governance in the state.

Both leaders urged residents to sustain peace and cooperation, stressing that development can only thrive in a stable and united environment.

Reaffirming OSOPADEC’s commitment, Poroye assured that the Commission will continue to monitor and deliver all ongoing projects, in line with the Governor’s vision of building resilient, self-sufficient, and prosperous communities.

“Our focus is clear, Poroye concluded. “With the backing of His Excellency, we are not just restoring lives we are transforming communities for the future.
