APC stronger, unbeatable – Omoyele Olabode

By Steve Ovirih.

The All Progressives Congress, APC has just held its National Convention under a harmonious atmosphere that revealed a firm sense of unity within the rank and file of the ruling party in Nigeria. In an exclusive chat with Mr. Omoyele Olabode, a stalwart of the party from Ondo South, he scored APC very high over the just concluded convention and maintained that All Progressives Congress has evolved stronger and unbeatable within the Nigerian political space.

The Igbotako born All Progressives Congress, APC stakeholder and Lagos based Real Estate Magnate admitted that the consensus approach deployed by the leadership of the ruling party is a sound and a pragmatic approach to sustaining cohesion and stability, noting that no matter how anyone looks at it, consensus reduces wastage and allows the party to build strong structure around personages who posseses charismatic leadership. “In a political structure, there are people who have shown commitment, loyalty and serious mindedness; people who have held on to progressive creeds all their lives and who never swapped political parties and politicians who can never move with the party’s victory and goodwill when there are challenges. The Consensus idea demands that in head hunting for leadership roles, members who fit into these qualities are painstakingly evaluated and propped up for leadership roles as they are those who will help consolidate on the gains of progressive democracy and that is why I personally support the Consensus idea which APC, our party just successfully deployed at the National Convention,” Omoyele Olabode said.

It will be recalled at the National Convention that President Bola Tinubu emphasized unity and discipline among party members, Omoyele reiterated. Quoting the President, Omoyele said , “our greatest strength has never been in our size or numbers, but our unity.”

“If the party hierarchy having considered various options conclude consensus approach will keep the party together it is very okay,” Omoyele enthused.

It will be recalled that the convention which held from March 27 to 28 in Abuja turned out key members of the National Working Committee (NWC) who had held offices prior to the convention. National Chairman. Nentawe Yiltwada, National Secretary, Surajudeen Basiru, National Youth Leader, Dayo Israel, were among the Executives who were returned to office on the strength of the consensus mandate . In the candid view of Omoyele Olabode, this approach has preserved the prospects of continuity and has sustained the resolve of the ruling party to consolidate structurally while avoiding internal upheaval.

Unlike some parties that cannot hold a mutually peaceful convention and others who have moved from respective convention grounds to Court rooms, Omoyele Olabode noted that APC has not just held a peaceful convention but has allowed the emergence of new leadership structure which syncs with the loyalty of the rank and file of the party, adding that on this basis alone, APC has become stronger, more stable and well poised to win not just the Presidential election but all other major elective offices across the Nigerian geopolitical space come the 2027 General election.

Omoyele Olabode while x-raying the leadership culture of President Bola Tinubu which is hinged on the Renewed Hope Mantra, scored the President full mark for bringing Nigeria back from the brink of economic collapse, stressing that Nigeria will be better positioned economically in the second term of President Bola Tinubu.

On his take on the Nentawe Yiltwada led NWC of APC, Omoyele Olabode said APC has firmly consolidated under the National Chairman and the rancour free National Convention is a testimony of the trust reposed in the Chairman’s leadership potential , stressing that under his watch more State Governors have joined the ruling APC .

Rounding off the exclusive media session, Omoyele Olabode noted that Nigeria has major opposition parties but what they remain is simply opposition and those leaving the opposition cannot be blamed because the constitution still recognizes the sacredness of the freedom of association.
