Chief Imam must resolve paternity issue with Ayilara Family – Soun of Ogbomoso

-Tamarauemi Ebimini.

The Soun of Ogbomoso, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye has said he will not remove the Chief Imam of the Central Mosque in the town, Sheik Takiat Yunus Olusina Ayilara if he resolves the paternity issue with the Ayilara family.

This was one of the conditions presented during a visit to the Oyo State Police Command State Intelligence Department, Eleyele, Ibadan.

Oba Ghandi said he gave the condition because it was Ayilara family that the palace recognized.
According to “Ogbomoso Muslims Justice Forum” on its Facebook wall, Soun reportedly made it succinctly clear that it was not in his slightest imagination to remove the Chief Imam.

It was stated that Soun “made it clear that as father to all, he had no business with removing the Chief Imam in as much as his paternity issue with the Ayilara family is resolved.”

The meeting, which also had Soun in attendance, was led by ACP Martins Bamgboye.
It was gathered that the Chief Imam begged the Soun after which conditions for resolution of all issues were laid.

Other conditions as presented by the monarch are that the Chief Imam “should present the story about the title of Chief Imam, the way it is, against what he presented in court and what he wrote in response to the query.”

“The Mosque belongs to the palace and the title of the Imam of Ogbomosoland is within the Soun’s power to award.”

“The Chief Imam must reverse all the appointments he made without Soun’s approval.”

“The Police advised the Chief Imam to withdraw the several court cases he instituted against the Soun and his Chiefs.

Soun clarified that the Chief Imam’s repeated affirmation that he is not under the Soun is not in tandem with reality. Kabiyesi insisted that litigation on whether or not the Soun has authority over the Chief Imam subsists so that the Court can decide the status of the Chief Imam.

The monarch made it clear that should the Chief Imam insist on a free reign, the only option will be for him to vacate the Ogbomoso Central Mosque forthwith because the Mosque belongs to the Soun and that it is because he (Chief Imam) is in the Soun’s Mosque that he’s regarded as the Chief Imam.

Soun also noted that as father to all, he had no business with removing the Chief Imam in as much as his paternity issue with the Ayilara family is resolved.
