Prof. Adedayo Faduyile, OON, Special Adviser on Health , Ondo State has welcomed the good people of the State to the last of the Ember months of year 2023, admonishing the People of The Sunshine State to be grateful to God for the grace of sustainance from January to December.

Faduyile gave this indication in his ‘ new month greetings’ and exclusive chat with thepolity.net, noting that ” our life is not ours and if it has pleased God to have kept us all year round in one piece, it behoves us as grateful people to indulge the attitude of thanksgiving in December.”

While fielding questions on the recent political development in Ondo State as regards the creation of new Local Council Development Areas ( LCDA), the Special Adviser said it couldnt have come at a more auspicious time, stressing that Ondo State Government by the pronouncement through the State House of Assembly has opened up robust political engagements in the grassroots even as he added that the essence of Local Government Administration is to bring governance to the people in the hinterland across the various communities making up the state.

The Ikale born APC gladiator noted that the State Government has once again reaffirmed its tie to the social contract of involving all in the political administration of the state as the newly created LCDAs will give room for more politicians to come on board and get actively involved in the affairs of governance. He stressed that the people of Ondo State will definitely remember this Administration for making history with this worthwhile stride of opening the hinterland for a robust political engagements, saluting Gov. Akeredolu for the political willpower to see the exercise through.

Prof. Faduyile equally congratulated all the appointed members of the Caretaker Committes as announced by the Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly at plenary earlier in the week, charging them all to see their new appointment as a golden opportunity to write their names in glowing ink particularly the history making pioneer Caretaker Chairmen of the newly created Local Community Development Areas. He stressed that The LCDAs are grooming space for future political champions as a lot of grassroots politicians who horned their skills at the home front had branched out into National Politics where they are making waves and doing their communities proud.

Veering into Health concern , which is his ‘ Primary Constituency ‘ in the course of the Media Chat, Prof. Faduyile called attention of the people to the challenge of obesity, ” a disorder involving excessive body fat that increases risk of serious health problems.” The Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine said Obesity has been linked to Diabetes Melitus Type II, heart disease , high blood pressure; some concerns like breast, colon cancers, stroke , arthritis, high cholestrol, infertility, sleep disorder and other metabolic conditions have also been linked to obesity.

Talking about treatment of obesity, Faduyile said, ” anyone who is in the throes of obesity should indulge healthy and weight losing diets, structured physical exercise , use of medically prescibed weight loss inclined drugs and weight loss surgeries such as Gastric bypass. ”

Prodded over possible prevention of obesity, the Special Adviser on Health suggested life style changes. Hear him: ” it is important to eat balanced and heart healthy diet ; people should eat more vegetables than starchy foods and it is necessary that one avoids high calory foods and junks.

” Let people who are prone to being obese and everyone for that matter indulge regular exercise like walking, swimming, biking for 20-30 minutes daily, while everyone should avoid eating late or in the night.”

He added that obesity is a chronic medical condition which diminishes overall quality of life and all must strive to avoid it.
