Gen. Bajowa slams Obasanjo, warns him not to truncate Democratic process.
– Steve Ovirih.
Gen. Olu Bajowa, OFR, has countered the opinion raised by former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, to the effect that the election held on Saturday should be cancelled. The letter credited to former Military and former Civilian President, Chief Obasanjo has been causing ripples in the polity as it has raised tension since the letter has been made public.
Gen Bajowa, the Jagunmolu of Ikaleland, and Ojagbulegun from the source in his frank opinion expressed in a press statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen, a copy obtained by thepolity.net, said it is very sad, most disheartening and grossly unexpected that a man of the calibre of a former military Head of State and two-time civilian President, General Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR, could contemplate anything that could truncate Nigeria’s democratic process at this very crucial stage.
He said Gen Obasanjo who gave him the command to fight during the Civil War to keep Nigeria united is the least expected to seek cancellation of a democratic exercise that is expected to birth a new transition in Nigeria. ” Gen. Obasanjo was the one who gave me orders to go to war front in 1967 to fight the legendary Ore Battle to keep Nigeria one.”
Going further, Gen Bajowa said ” Without any attempt to undermine General Obasanjo, I believe that his intentions on the 2023 electoral process, are far from being sincere, given the fact that he openly endorsed a particular candidate who incidentally is not leading the polls, as already announced by INEC.”
While noting that he who must come to equity must come with clean hands, Gen Bajowa said Obasanjo having endorsed a candidate, Peter Obi, his hands are not clean in this instance, and he lacks the moral right to come to equity.
Gen Bajowa advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to be deterred by the anti-democratic voices making the rounds and not be swayed, deceived, or persuaded to allow anyone to destroy his worthy legacy of excellent service to our great nation.
