Mpox: It is generally self limiting , Prof. Faduyile says.

Renowned Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine , Prof. Dayo Faduyile, OON , has shared his view on the need to report early cases of Mpox for prompt treatment, describing the health challenge as “generally self limiting.”
Prof.Faduyile made this known while giving an expose on health matters in his weekly health nugget with particular reference to ‘Mpox’. He said Mpox is a viral disease which is transmitted through contact with contaminated animals, contact with infected person, fluids contamination from the infected , aerosol and sexual intercourse.
Prof. Faduyile said Mpox has its presentation in fever , sore throat, muscle pain , big rashes forming blisters all over the body including the palm and soles, as well as other systemic diseases like pneumonia and septicemia.
While talking about steps to prevent the viral disease, Prof. Faduyile said good personal hygiene is key, stressing that physical distance from the infected is also important even as he noted sexual relationship with infected person should be stopped once it has been observed.
The health expert advised that a visit to the hospital is required when rashes is noticed on the body while treatment should be commenced immediately.
” Mpox is generally self limiting, so let’s endeavour to report cases early for medical treatment, ” Prof. Faduyile counselled.
