Leading the Product Revolution: Oluwafunke Kofoworade Champions Innovation, Mentorship, and Tech Advocacy

PRODUCT MANAGER – OLUWAFUNKE KOFOWORADE

A Lagos based Product Manager with ‘Your Study Path’ (YSP), and edtech platform a fast-growing, product-led
edtech platform designed to empower students across Africa and beyond with high-quality, accessible, and
affordable exam preparation tools . Oluwafunke Kofoworade has charged Federal Government to invest more in the Tech Hub, innovation and information technology sector of the country.

The Product Manager gave this indication in a personality interview on The Polity tv online tagged ‘The Polity Talk show with Steve Ovirih.’ The amazon Product Management personality noted that while Technological Innovation concern is growing in Nigeria, there is more room for active government involvement, stressing that government in the developed countries of the world are investing massively in Information Technology and programmes are commissioned across the US, Great Britain Russia, Germany and others to boost the advancement of technological innovations.

Oluwafunke , who is gradually emerging into her role Product Manager traced her interest in Product Management to her days in the higher institution, admitting that her knowledge in Technological innovation has impacted her in Product Management.

Talking about her journey into the field of Product Management, Oluwafunke Kofoworade said her desire to solve problems motivated her. She said she liked to build structure and equally liked to be the Lead on such structures when she has created them. “This curiosity and drive led me to Product Management; I love when problems are solved and people are happy when a problem solved leads to finding brand convenience with a particular product or service. So, when people get value for their money through a certain Product consumption which branding I am involved, it gives me a feeling of satisfaction. And of course, I love to improve people’s well-being and lifestyle so going deep down into Tech, the only way of creating this satisfaction in people is through Product Management.
This helps me to manage what people need to fit a purpose in their life. This was the drive that made me go into Product Management ” Oluwafunke said. Tracing her career growth with ‘Your Study Path’ (YSP), her work significantly shaped the product experience for thousands of users and laid the foundation for
several of our platform’s most enduring and revenue-generating features. She said she conducted user research defined the product roadmap and worked with cross -functional teams to build a responsive web platform.

She noted that the challenges she has encountered had shaped her well and built her to focus on becoming a general-purpose expert in Product Management.

As a Product Manager Personnel, Oluwafunke said she is also motivated to help young and aspiring Tech persons to grow in the field, noting that whatever she does she makes sure she wants to do it right because there are looking up to her and who see are as a tech hub model.

“I have a community which is called Tech Product Gems community, a community where I put together different types of mentees and there are different types of product managers and diverse people in the tech industry who play major leadership roles for those that are passionately mentored. We guide them, provide both physical and virtual boot camps and for now I have about two groups across five states in the country,” she indicated, adding that her pet project Gems Product and its community can be accessed on www.tech product gems.com

In her advice to Nigerians who would like to consider a career in Product Management, Kofoworade said, ” I will say they should not procrastinate, and they should start from where they are. They should learn from experts in the field ;they should join communities, and they should volunteer as well. They should not go into tech because of the mind set of wanting to make sharp money and they should not have it at the back of their mind that Tech is a zone where manipulation for malpractice is encouraged because such a demarketing concept is very wrong.”

She said in her tech advancement she is considering building more scalable products and services across the globe, adding that she is obviously not limiting herself to Nigeria, stressing that she is looking forward to solving product concerns across Europe and America and across the globe.
