Palm Sunday: Omoyele Olabode charges Christians to emulate Christ’s commitment.
As Christians the world over observe Palm Sunday, the Sunday that heralds the passion week today, Mr. Omoyele Olabode has charged Christians to emulate the commitment of Jesus Christ to the salvation of mankind.
Omoyele Olabode gave this indication in an exclusive chat with newsmen on the occasion of the 2026 Easter tide which peaks today with the commemoration of the Palm Sunday Service.
While noting that Christ’s triumphant entry to Jerusalem today signifies an avowed commitment of Jesus to the work of salvation , he added that even when he has a foreknowledge of the battle of the passion week, he rode into Jerusalem with unwavering commitment not minding the battles ahead.
Omoyele maintained that but for Christ, no ordinary human can withstand the journey to betrayal by most trusted allies and the crucifixion which is a most gruelling experience.
He added that the triumphant entry holds a significant lesson for Christians that humanity may give one a standing ovation and at the same time plot one’s downfall, thus all should allow the love of Christ to lead even in the face of bitter treachery as encountered by Christ who was not only betrayed by his disciples but also humanity with the majority roaring “crucify him” when no sin was found in him.
He admonished Christians to celebrate this day with serious reflection beyond just jubilation and sharing of Palms, stressing that we all should ask ourselves if we would have been able to hold on all through the pains that followed the triumphant entry.
While specially congratulating Christians across Ondo South and Okitipupa /Irele Federal Constituency in particular, Omoyele noted that the lessons of the special Sunday of Christ’s triumphant entry should not be lost on Christians generally.
