A rapid distress alert from residents has helped security operatives rescue a woman and her two children from suspected kidnappers in the Isingbo-Osi axis of Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The victims were rescued after the Ondo State Security Network, known as Amotekun Corps, received information about the kidnapping operation in the community. State Commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, said operatives reached the location within about five minutes of receiving the alert.

Adeleye disclosed this while parading 10 suspects arrested in connection with various offences across the state, including alleged kidnapping, armed robbery, motorcycle theft and church burglary. He said the latest rescue demonstrated the importance of prompt information from communities during security incidents.

The Amotekun commander also credited cooperation with the Fulani community for helping security personnel identify some of the suspected kidnappers among those arrested. He said stronger relationships between residents and security agencies remain important in responding to criminal activities.

Among those paraded were two men identified as Joseph, aged 25, and Friday, aged 20, who were allegedly involved in stealing and reselling motorcycles. According to the corps, some of the stolen motorcycles were reportedly sold for as little as 70,000 naira.

The commander said the security situation in Ondo State had improved, attributing what he described as a significant reduction in criminal activities to collaboration among security agencies. He said the joint efforts were aimed at sustaining pressure on criminal networks operating across the state.

The rescue in Akure North has therefore highlighted the role of immediate community reporting in preventing kidnapping incidents from escalating. While the suspects remain allegations at this stage, security authorities say continued cooperation between residents and law-enforcement agencies is critical to protecting communities and responding quickly to threats.
