Distinguished Senator Prof.Dayo Faduyile OON, has drawn attention to the need for Nigerians to key into Universal Health Insurance scheme, describing it as a health scheme that makes access to quality health convenient, comfortable and affordable.
Senator Faduyile canvassed for this health ideal in his goodwill remark as a special guest in Osi Ekiti, Ekiti State at the official commissioning and dedication of Mercy Medical Center, the brainchild of Bishop Sunday Olayinka and his amiable wife, Princess Victoria Olayinka. Bishop Olayinka is an Osi Ekiti born Preacher and cleric who is committed to Mercy International Mission, a global brand that is committed to Kingdom works and people’s welfare.
At the commissioning of the state of the art health facility which was well attended by Government officials, cabinet members of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Ekiti monarchs, clerics and Osi Ekiti indigenes, Senator Faduyile noted that Universal Health Insurance also called Universal Health Coverage (UHC) allows everyone to access quality health without going broke.”Great thing is happening in Osi Ekiti today, a great son of the soil, Bishop Sunday Olayinka has built a massive Medical Center and this is bringing health care closer to the masses.
“It is important that we all key into Universal Health Insurance otherwise known as Universal Health Coverage. What the Health Insurance scheme implies is that no matter the size of your pocket either fat or lean, you can go to the hospital and get treated. It’s about paying a small contribution into a big pool and when you are sick, the pool pays the hospital and with the scheme you don’t have to put huge money out of your pocket at the point of treatment,” the Federal lawmaker and Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine emphasized.
Hon.Abimbola Solanke, Moba Constituency 1, Chairperson, House Committee on Health, Ekiti State House of Assembly while backing the need to embrace Health Insurance scheme as canvassed by Senator Faduyile noted that the Ekiti Assembly has continued to lead the charge for ensuring its sustainability as a state policy.
Bishop Felix Adejumo among other clerics who prayed at the Commission of the Medical Center congratulated Bishop Olayinka for returning home with a great gift that reflects his commitment to his people’s health concern.
