Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has called for a broader investigation into the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), arguing that the ongoing legal proceedings should extend beyond the arrest of one suspect. He made the remarks on Tuesday while reacting to the arrest of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi following a court-issued warrant.

The comments come as Adeyemi prepares to face prosecution over allegations of forgery, fraud and impersonation. According to court records, the Federal High Court in Abuja issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to appear for his scheduled arraignment, despite his counsel announcing an appearance on his behalf.

Sowore, in a post on his X account, questioned the handling of the case, describing the arrest as insufficient if authorities intend to establish the full facts surrounding the matter. He argued that public confidence in the investigation would depend on whether all individuals allegedly connected to the controversy are subjected to the same level of scrutiny.

The activist specifically said President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, should also be investigated if law enforcement agencies are committed to uncovering the truth. His remarks reflect allegations made by him and do not represent findings by any court or investigative authority.

Sowore also referred to claims that a person allegedly linked to the collection of a ₦400 million bribe connected to the matter had died under unclear circumstances. He further alleged that the hotel reportedly associated with the transaction had since been demolished, raising additional questions which he said require independent verification by investigators.

Meanwhile, the legal case against Adeyemi is expected to proceed before the Federal High Court in Abuja. He faces an eight-count charge bordering on forgery, fraud and impersonation in a case marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025. The charges remain allegations, and the court has not determined his guilt or innocence.

The PFIPC controversy has continued to attract public attention following conflicting claims over the status of the organisation and its operations. The case has also generated renewed debate about transparency, accountability and the need for comprehensive investigations whenever allegations involve public institutions or government officials.

As the judicial process unfolds, observers say the outcome of both the criminal proceedings and any further investigations could shape public confidence in the handling of the matter. For now, the allegations raised by Sowore remain separate from the charges before the court, while authorities continue with legal action against Adeyemi in accordance with due process.
