The senator-elect for Plateau Central, Hon. Diket Plang, said he won the election on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) due to his character and capacity.
Plang is the only APC senator-elect from Plateau State. The two others are members of the PDP.
Addressing a press conference yesterday in Jos, Plateau State capital, Plang thanked his constituents for giving him the mandate.
The senator-elect said, “I was declared winner because the voters know the various personalities contesting to be senator from the zone and the result of the election represents the popular choice of the people.
“Among the three senators-elect from this state, I am the only one from APC; the other two are from the opposition PDP. This is because I am more popular among the electorate.
“I was chosen because I dwell with the electorate; I have served them as a councillor in the past and I have served the people as a state legislator in the past. This means the people know my credentials and my capacity to deliver.
“But the fact that I am the only APC senator notwithstanding, all of us will be representing Plateau State at the National Assembly and all of us will represent Nigeria as senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The eight female students who were kidnapped from Government Secondary School, Awon, Kaduna State, have escaped from the terrorists’ den.
The abduction occurred on April 3, in the Awon general area of Kachia LGA, Kaduna State.
According to sources, the students managed to escape from a thick forest near the Kaduna-Niger interstate boundaries, where they had been held captive.
It was gathered that the girls walked for several days until they found a safe location where they were able to seek help.
The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan in a statement issued Tuesday stated that human intelligence sources alerted the state government to the students’ escape, after which Governor Nasir El-Rufai ordered their immediate evacuation.
According to him, the terrorists were reportedly combing the area in search of the students, making it essential to act swiftly.
He said the eight students had been safely evacuated to a military facility, where they are presently receiving medical attention.
Aruwan said Governor El-Rufai praised the students for their bravery and resilience in making their escape.
