May Day: Faduyile congratulates Labour, encourages them to be more resilient .

-Steve Ovirih .

Prof. Francis Adedayo Faduyile, OON, an aspirant in the just concluded APC Gubernatorial primary in Ondo State and former National President, Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, has saluted Nigerian Workers over their resilience, while charging them to continue to put Nigeria first in their respective vocation.

The All Progressives Congress stalwart gave this indication in his message to the Nigerian working class on the occasion of the May Day-workers celebration all over the world.

The academic and Professor of Pathology admitted that things are not rosy for the Labour force particularly in Nigeria as the forces of Demand and Supply have continued to affect the purchasing power of the average Nigerian worker.

Prof. Faduyile however noted that Government is not unaware of the basic challenges faced by the Labour Force , hence the establishment of the tripartite negotiation Committee on the new minimum wage even as he added that Government is definitely on top of its game to ensure a new minimum wage is offered to Labour in timely fashion so as to cater to the challenges that the harsh economic realities of fuel subsidy removal has brought to bear on the shoulders of Nigerian workers.

He said workers are very important driving force of any successful economy, the world over, therefore a special day like this calls for an opportunity by the Labour Force to think of new ways of improving their contributions towards the greater good of Nigeria, adding that nothing works positively both in the administrative and economic front without the sincere input of a committed Labour Force.

Prof. Faduyile equally congratulated Ondo State workers for their dedication to work and how their formidable input has continued to strategically improve the lot of Ondo State, stressing that the turn around experienced in the internal revenue drive of the state is the success story of the steadfast and commendable effort of the workers who have blocked the loophole thereby allowing funds of the state to now flow to enhance a better revenue required for economic growth.

While urging State Governors across Nigeria to fast track a new wage regime for the workforce to encourage robust government/workers’ mutual collaboration as Federal Government is set to announce the new minimum wage structure, Prof. Faduyile said it will be anti productive if some State Governors chose to be evasive about prompt activation of the payment of the new minimum wage.
