Ondo State, NCWS, and Friendsociates Launch Major Empowerment Drive for Women and Youths

Akure, Nigeria — A new partnership between the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) and development group Friendsociates is bringing a fresh wave of economic and social empowerment to women and youths in Ondo State, Nigeria.

The initiative, launched Wednesday at The Dome in Akure, aims to strengthen the economic resilience of women and youths through targeted training, support for farmers, and expanded access to healthcare.

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, represented by Special Adviser on Women Affairs Dr. Seun Osamaye, announced that a week-long empowerment program will be rolled out across the state. The effort is part of what the Governor described as his administration’s broader commitment to creating opportunities for all residents — not just the privileged few.

“We are determined to provide an enabling environment for women to unlock their potential,” Aiyedatiwa said. “From agricultural support to economic empowerment, we are aligning with both national and international partners to deliver real impact.”

The Governor highlighted ongoing efforts to provide free medical services in rural areas and noted the state’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s initiatives focused on women’s empowerment.

In a show of support, NCWS National President Ednah Azura praised the state government’s inclusive approach and pledged continued support from women across Ondo State. “This administration has shown strong leadership in bringing women into the fold,” Azura said.
