Fifteen young women are finally safe after police smashed a dangerous sex trafficking ring in Akure. The criminals tricked them with promises of good jobs, only to trap them in a nightmare.

The Ondo State Police, acting on a tip-off, arrested the main suspect, Jayeola Joshua, and two others. The gang used social media to lure girls from different parts of the country with offers of work as house helpers or even overseas employment.

When the victims, aged between 20 and 26, arrived in Akure, they were locked up in an apartment. Their freedom was taken away, and they were forced into a different, terrifying reality.

The traffickers pressured the girls to take explicit photos and videos. These were then sold to clients for sex, with the crime cleverly hidden online as “relationship content” to avoid detection.

Police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, confirmed the rescue. The young women are now receiving medical care and counseling at a police hospital to help them recover from their ordeal.

The State’s Police Commissioner has vowed to prosecute all those involved and hunt down any remaining gang members. The public is urged to be vigilant and always verify job offers before allowing young people to travel.
