A final-year student of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has been sentenced to death by a Rivers State High Court. The judgment was delivered for the murder of his girlfriend, a crime that has drawn significant public attention.

The convict, identified as a 400-level student, was found guilty of killing the young woman, whose identity has been shielded. The court heard details of the tragic incident that led to her death.

Presiding Judge, Justice Adolphus Enebeli, announced the verdict after examining the evidence. The court concluded that the prosecution successfully proved its case against the student beyond a reasonable doubt.

The case has sparked conversations about relationships and violence among young people in the community. Many residents see the judgment as a strong stance against deadly crimes.

The student now faces death by hanging, as ordered by the court. The sentence is subject to appeal within a higher legal system.

This ruling brings a legal conclusion to a case that has shocked the university community and the wider public, highlighting the severe consequences of violent crime.
