A suicide bomber attacked worshippers at a mosque in northeast Nigeria on Wednesday evening, killing four people and injuring 32 others. The blast occurred during evening prayers in the Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri, Borno State.

Military officials confirmed a suspected Boko Haram attacker detonated an improvised explosive device inside the mosque. The bomber and two civilians died instantly at the scene.

Security forces and emergency agencies rushed to cordon off the area and evacuate the wounded. Two more victims later died in the hospital from their injuries, raising the death toll to four.

Among the 32 injured, two are in critical condition. The remaining patients are reported to be stable and receiving medical treatment.

Following the attack, security has been increased across Maiduguri. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant, avoid large crowds, and report suspicious activity.

The military has reiterated its commitment to protecting the region, extending condolences to the families of the victims. The attack underscores the persistent threat of violence in Nigeria’s northeast.
