Olabode Omoyele salutes Bunmi Tunji Ojo over relief for Ondo South flood victims
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo State, Mr. Olabode Omoyele, has commended the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, BTO, for what he described as “swift and humane intervention” for victims of the recent floods in Ondo South Senatorial District.
Olabode , in a statement issued in Lagos on Monday, said the distribution of cash transfers by the minister brought succour to thousands of households displaced by the flood across Ese-Odo, Ilaje and Okitipupa Local Government Areas.
He described the gesture as a reflection of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the minister’s commitment to grassroots welfare across Ondo State.
“I salute and commend Dr. Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, BTO, for rising to the occasion at this critical time,” he said.
“The cash transfers have gone a long way in easing the pain of our people in Ondo South. It shows a leader who feels the pulse of his people and acts without delay.”
The APC chieftain noted that the intervention hit at the core of meeting the peoples challenge at a trying time.
According to him, such people-oriented initiatives will deepen public trust in government and strengthen the bond between the centre and the people of the Niger Delta coastal communities.
Olabode Omoyele urged other political leaders and well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the minister’s example by supporting victims as government intensifies efforts on long-term flood control and drainage projects in the area. He noted that while the victims look forward to NEMA’s input and palliative as promised as the authority has effected flooded areas inspection, the support from BTO has come in handy and this is very commendable.
He also prayed for the repose of those who lost their lives and for quick recovery of communities still battling the impact of the disaster.
