Aisha Buhari charges the political class to fasten their belt

– Steve Ovirih.

The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari has once again dropped a bombshell on the political class , stressing that except the political elite smart out of their collective slumber ” we all are going to regret it very soon in the country.”

The wife of the President was expressing her mind in a speech at the opening ceremony of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs ( NSCIA), which held at the National Mosque, Abuja on Friday, the 29th of November.

In her characteristic brashness, The First Lady maintained, ” we should either fasten our belt and do the needful or we shall all regret it very soon because at the rate things are going, things are getting completely out of hand . We have here in our midst Ministers who are suppose to do justice to the situation on ground.”

Mrs . Aisha Buhari said members of the elite class in Nigeria and political office holders should fear God and should always remember that one day we will all return to God.

The first Lady’s remark is an apparent veiled reaction to the harsh economic condition of the country and its attendant consequences for the masses who are at the receiving end.

A public commentator, Comrade Abisola Àbisogun in his reaction to the First Lady’ s speech said the first lady was expressing the mindset of Nigerians because things are actually getting out of hand. Comrade Àbisogun however noted that the first lady failed to mention the fact that the bulk stops on the President’s table and the advice should be basically handed down to the Presidency.

In recent time Mrs. Aisha Buhari has been credited with remarks that tend to affect the air of a veiled criticism of the present Government in Nigeria.
