Osun suspends weekend lockdown, eases restriction on worship.

The total restrictions on movement on weekends in Osun state has been suspended for the next two weeks, subject to review after the next 14 days. In the same vein, government has lifted temporary ban on worship among Muslim and Christian faithfuls in the state.

The Chief Press Secretary to Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Mr. Rafiu Omipidan, while speaking on a radio program, said the government of Osun has reviewed the situation of things and has agreed that Christians and Muslims can now hold worship sessions, but they must keep to all the necessary safety protocols, particularly social distancing and the use of nose masks.

Omipidan said government is keeping tab on the development as regards the number of people with the virus in the state, noting that the two new cases of COVID 19 in Osun state are from Ikire and they have already gone into self isolation. He said with the suspension of weekend lockdown, the 9pm to 5 am curfew still subsists in Osun state, appealing to the people of the state to adhere strictly .

The government of Osun appreciate the cooperation of the good people of Osun state so far and still call on them to collectively adhere to all the safety protocols to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the state, Omipidan said.
With the two new cases of coronavirus, total number of people who had contracted the disease so far in the state stands at 49, and a good percentage of this proportion have been totally cured and discharged.

With this new decision of the government, Christian faithfuls shall have their worship centers opened tomorrow, Sunday, the 7th June.
