IG begins the dismantling of roadblocks across the nation.

Inspector General of Police has constituted a special Crack team to begin the removal of all illegal and unsolicited road blocks in the nation’s major high ways with effect from Monday, the 17th of April. The Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris while commissioning the special team said henceforth, it becomes an illegal exercise for any uniformed or civilian task force to mount road block on the highways for the purpose of exploiting or demanding any toll fee from motorists.
He charged the special road block-dismantling task force to arrest and prosecute any one who flout this order.
It will be recalled that officials of Local government, national road workers and police officers have at different occasions mounted road blocks across major Nigerian roads to obtain money from motorists, the worst of which is “police road blocks” that have become recurrent decimal on Nigerian roads.
