Buhari promises to use football to develop Girl-child, charges FIFA to invest in Nigeria.

President Muhammadu has restated the commitment of his administration to deploying the round leather game of football in the development of the girl – child and to encourage the youths to develop a genuine interest in football as a rewarding career.

The President of Nigeria hosted FIFA delegation which has FIFA President, Gianni Infantino in the delegation as well as Confederation of African Football (CAF) President , Patrice Motsepe at the Asorock Villa, Abuja.

 

President Buhari tasked the leadership of the world football governing body to endeavor to make Nigeria an investment destination .

In a statement credited to the President through his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity , Femi Adesina, the President noted that Nigerian women in football are force to reckon with on the continent and in the international stage, adding that Nigeria is no doubt a country that the round leather game unites. ” Football for Nigeria is a major tool of national cohesion which the nation’s Sport Ministry does not take for granted ,” the statement reads in part.

President Buhari added that Nigeria stands together anytime the Nigerian team plays against other Nationals, stressing that the women wing of the Nigeria football team has equally done the nation proud in international tourneys.

The President while reasurring FIFA President, Infantino of his country’s commitment to developing football, stated that his administration has approved the putting together of a special committee to develop a ten year football master plan for Nigeria.

He said the girl- child can be encouraged to have all round psychomotor growth by instilling their interest in football game.
