Outgoing pupils of The Police Children school Okitipupa have been advised to continue to maintain the quality leadership traits and discipline that have been impacted on them as they proceed to secondary school. This piece of advice was given by the Head Teacher, Mr. Olatoye Kayode Abiodun at the venue of the passing out parade, marking the end of 2016/2017 academic session.
The end of session ceremony featured colourful highlights, the most significant of which was the passing out parade and the mounting of the guard of honor for Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mrs. Ibifuro Harrison, who was represented by the Okitipupa Divisional Police officer (DPO), CSP. Okunfolami Fidelis Abayomi. The final year pupils donning their ceremonial police outfit simulated the Nigeria Police Force Guard of Honor and the March past exercise in a very disciplined and accurate manner that drew loud applause from the audience.
In his welcome address, the Head Teacher, Mr. Olatoye congratulated the graduating pupils, reassuring the audience that the present crop of graduands are shining light that will make their Alma mater proud in their respective secondary schools . He however called on parents, guardians, stakeholders and friend s of the police children school to come to the aid of the school, as the school is in need of school buses, set of computers among others.
Olatoye noted that the school has been witnessing tremendous achievement,
promising that his administration will strive to ensure that positive milestones are achieved in his tenure.
” I want to inform this gathering that the school has been witnessing tremendous achievement such as the visitation of Force Education Officer (FEO) which is first of its Kind; conversion of three casual teachers to permanent staff by the FEO; outstanding performance in the last placement examination and the painting of the school wall which is still ongoing ,” the head teacher said.
Earlier in her remark, the Chairman, Okitipupa Local Government, Hon. Mrs. Morenike Alaka, who was represented by Mr. Akin Falomo, expressed her satisfaction over the good report emanating from the school. She also congratulated the final year pupils and encouraged them to continue to always aspire for the best as they continue their academic pursuit in the secondary school.
Pupils across the different classes of the police children school dazzled guests and their parents with presentations which vary from songs to poetry, lyrics, drama, career talk and a
debate on the gender sensitive role of male/female child and relevance to the society.
On the sideline of the event, the DPO, Okitipupa Police Division, DCP. Fidelis, while chatting with thepolity.com noted that one thing which stands out the school from others is that there is discipline among the pupils. While condemning the social vice of cultism which is fast gaining ground among students, he stressed that police schools do not condone such aberrant behavior.
Among the guests at the event were Otunba Adeshina Erejuwa aka Jasper, Omo’ba Demola Ogunsusi, Mr. Ogunboye, Mrs. Durojaye, Doc. Fidelis, DPO Okitipupa Police Division, Mrs. Akindele and a host of others .Meanwhile, a prominent prince of Erinje kingdom and philanthropist per excellence, Prince Barrister Anthony Olatujoye, former Director of Legal services of Central Bank of Nigeria, who was unavoidably absent at the occasion sent in a huge and handsome donation to support the school.
