Akeredolu recommits to having deep seaport in Ondo

Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has reiterated the commitment of his administration to having a deep seaport in the state.

According to the governor, who resumed office days back, after three months of medical leave, there is no going back on the project.

Akeredolu, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Richard Olatunde, at the weekend, emphasised that having a deep seaport is essential for the economic development of the state.

The governor was said to have stressed this during a stakeholders’ meeting with members of the National Assembly from Ondo State.

Present at the meeting were Senator Jide Ipinsagba representing Ondo North; members of the House of Representatives representing Owo/Ose, Timehin Adelegbe; Ilaje/Ese-Odo, Donald Ojogo; Idanre/Ifedore, Festus Akingbaso; Okitipupa/Irele, Jimi Odimayo; and Akoko South West/South East, Gboyega Adefarati.

Akeredolu urged the lawmakers to collaborate and support the state’s effort to have a deep seaport.

He assured that his administration would persist until a solid foundation was established for the port in Ondo State.

The governor also enjoined the lawmakers to work together across party lines, always pursuing the good of the people and the state.

Speaking on behalf of the national assembly members, Senator Ipinsagba assured Akeredolu of the support of the Ondo national assembly caucus.

He also expressed gratitude for the governor’s safe return and offered prayers for his continued protection and well-being.
