The Benue State Police Command says its investigation into the killing of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in the state, Ardo Risku Mohammed, and Yakubu Isa has recorded a major breakthrough with the arrest of 10 suspects. The Command says the development reflects its determination to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Udeme Edet, the arrests followed intelligence-driven operations carried out by tactical police teams in Otukpo on the night of June 27, 2026. Police identified the suspects as Titus Thyodenda, Utibe Sam, Owoicho Ameh, Sunday Useni, Sunday Ogbanje, Daniel Raphael, Adokole John, Samuel Ogazi, Agbo Daniel and Onazi James.

Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu, commended the tactical units and investigators for what he described as their swift and professional response. He said the arrests mark an important stage in the investigation while assuring residents that efforts are continuing to identify and apprehend every other person connected to the killings.

The police commissioner stressed that the investigation remains active and pledged that anyone found culpable would face prosecution in accordance with the law. He noted that the Command is committed to ensuring the case is thoroughly investigated and that justice is pursued through established legal processes.

CP Nwadiogbu also appealed to members of the public to remain calm and continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information that could assist investigators. He said public cooperation remains essential to strengthening ongoing efforts to combat crime and maintain peace across Benue State.

The Command reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property while sustaining security across the state. Police had earlier condemned the killing of Ardo Risku Mohammed, who served as the Benue State Chairman of MACBAN, and Yakubu Isa, describing the attack as unfortunate and assuring residents that those responsible would be held accountable.
