Celebrating Prof.Dayo Faduyile, a humble achiever on his birthday

To his parents, His Imperial Majesty , Oba George Babatunde Faduyile, Adegun II, the Abodi of Ikaleland and Olori Grace Faduyile, he remains ‘ Dayo’, the young boy who has evolved into an all round poster boy of glowing success in his medical career yet still remains daddy and mummy’s boy.
To the rest of us who have had reason to cross his path in life, he is the ebullient and affable Medical Doctor, who has risen through the ranks in the academics to evolve Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine. Describe him as cerebral and it will not be an understatement. In his chosen field of Medicine, he sure well knows his onions.
He doesn’t shy from saying he grew up under a most strict parenting who brooks no childish excesses so he had learnt early in life the beauty of moderation but it doesn’t take away the astute confidence to aspire for the best in life. Living under parents who have zero tolerance to indiscipline and whose body language spur you to be the best you can ever dream of in life is the lifebuoy needed for ‘young Faduyile’ to aspire in life. It was therefore no surprise that the celebrant of today made his parentage, clan, community, district and even State proud by emerging as the National President, Nigeria Medical Association, NMA. Interestingly, in the story of The Sunshine State, two personalities had evolved to lead the major career pressure groups in Nigeria, The NBA and The NMA; Prof. Faduyile did not just lead the national body of NMA, he did at a pressing time of global health emergency and as a Medical Administrator of an enviable stature with global recognition afoot, he recorded a whole lot of success at salvaging the health concern of Nigeria during the trying period of Covid 19.For a Medical Administrator, true worth of competence is known during such emergency. Prof. Faduyile did not disappoint!
As a mark of National Honor and recognition , the Government of President Muhammadu Buhari serenaded Prof. Faduyile with the Officer Order of The Niger (OON) award as he rounded off his elective assignment as the head of the Medical Association in Nigeria.
Under his watch at Lagos State University College of Medicine (Lasucom), a lot of Medical experts had been churned out who are actively involved in the life saving career across Nigeria and beyond. He remains a strong stakeholder of Lagos NMA, the umbrella he leveraged on , on his way to the national stage. Undoubtedly, Prof. Faduyile cuts across as an academic, union leader with the understanding that confrontation alone doesn’t always solve Union/ Government labour dispute, hence under the Fashola administration in Lagos, his was the voice of an arbitrator and mediator as NMA arrow head and this boded positively for the welfare of Lagos Doctors under the state Government employ.
Shall we talk about Dayo Faduyile, the Doctor as a politician? He earned among us his fans the sobriquet, ‘Ojogbon Dokita’ in one of his efforts to clinch an elective office in his bid to serve his people. That’s the audacity of aspiration which has kept the Professor of Pathology and Forensic Medicine going. Nothing discourages him and in his sojourn in the field of politics, he always dusts his cap and move on.
In his bid to tap into his Medical Administrator competence,former Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, had to appoint him as Special Adviser on Health and under his watch among other progress streaks recorded, the ORANGHIS became stabilized government policy.
He has magic wand of no small measure and he is a model for a lot of young turks whom he offers enviable leadership.
Prof.Faduyile is a silent philanthropist who doesn’t make a headline about his assist to the underprivileged in the society, perhaps more reason a good section of the society have a sparse knowledge of how well he goes in offering fund support for the indigents in the society.
Today, as Prof.Francis Adedayo Faduyile ,OON celebrates his unique birthday, the wishes to the star is that ‘may the universe continue to be favourable to him and his positive aspirations.’
