The Deputy Governor of Ondo state, Hon. Agboola Ajayi has paid a scheduled visit to the military formation in Okitipupa military Barracks. The visit, thepolity.com gathered, was aimed at showing the goodwill of the state government to the authority of the formation for promptly combating the uprising in the riverrine community of Ese Odo.
The Deputy Governor also inspected the arms recovered from the militants whom the soldiers from the Okitipupa Barracks engaged in a fierce confrontation at Coastal community of Ajappa in Ese Odo. Hon. Ajayi also commiserated with Lt. Col Maji over the loss of a member of his command at the confrontation at Ajappa, while praying that those who were wounded will get quick recovery.
Agboola Ajayi asked those who have flee the community to return to their home, stressing that peace had returned to the area and the state Government will continue to secure the life and property of the people.
It will be recalled that a gun duel had ensued between some militants and squad from the Nigerian Army at Ajappa a fortnight ago. Militants who had been disturbing the peace at Ishawo-Ikorodu area, whose activities had led to blood and death at Ikorodu, led by their leader Ossy Ibori had fled to Ajappa in Ese Odo. Following intelligence, they were trailed to their hide out by Nigerian Army and had engaged the army officers in a gun exchange that lasted hours, which scared the people of the community away from their land.
