Eddy Olafeso extols Oladunni Odu’s leadership quality as Odu, 15 others bag IHS recognition award.

Dr. Eddy Eniola Olafeso , former Commissioner for Information , Ondo State and Immediate past National Vice Chairman of PDP in the South West , has described as worthy of emulation the notable contribution of Barr. Princess Catherine Oladunni Odu to the development of Education in Ondo State , particularly in Ondo South Senatorial District. Dr. Olafeso gave this commendation at Idepe High School, Idepe Okitipupa in the course of his speech as the Chairman of a Special Award ceremony presented to great sons and daughters of Idepe Okitipupa, nay Ikaleland who had contributed to the success story of the school in the last four decades of its establishment.
Dr. Olafeso noted that Princess Odu , the incumbent Secretary to Ondo State Government (SSG) has been used by God to put Idepe on global reckoning and records of her achievement as a grassroots developer cut across both primary and secondary schools in the land that are strewn with modern classroom complexes built under her watch as SUBEB Chairman.
Olafeso enjoined all good loving Ikale people both at home and in The Diaspora to continue to pray for her for more success in her political career .
Olorogun Eddy Olafeso said Patriarch of Idepe Okitipupa deemed it fit to contribute money to build depe High School and the noble idea of the older generation did not only gift Idepe Okitipupa the Idepe High School facility alone as the pool of fund contributed was further used to build Ofedepe Comprehensive High School and Ogundugbuja High School, Okitipupa.
While challenging the present crops of Idepe High School students not to see themselves as mere students of a community school, Dr. Olafeso said an old student of the school, his own younger brother went from Idepe High School to study at The Imperial College London and he is doing extremely well for himself as a career Diplomat on the international scene.
He said he is fulfilled that Idepe High School can now boast of Professors like Prof Koya Ogen, former Provost , Adeyemi College of Education, Ondo, Prof. Olumekun, Prof. Kunle Olatumile, Barr. Donald Morebise, Olu Olokungbemi, a Chattered Accountant and many more , stressing that an Ondo State High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Ademola Enikuemehin is a proud product of Idepe High School.
Olafeso praised the forthrightness of the older generation who saw the need , saw the future and established Idepe High School, which has produced great destinies making Ikale proud in their respective career.
The Principal of Idepe High School , Mrs. Tope Ajibolade in her welcome address said the epoch event was meant to celebrate distinguished personalities who have contributed , students who had passed through the school and Ikale elite with milk of human kindness who are still going to contribute to the growth of the school. She added that IHS award ceremony henceforth will be an institutionalised practice in Idepe High School system.
The Chairman of the School Based Management Committee ( SBMC), Chief Aladeboyeje noted in his remark that the school is indeed a success story that is still evolving , stressing that the school has needs that great and successful individuals who had passed through the school can be of great help in providing.
Earlier in his speech, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Obatuga Adetoye , Jegun Idepe Okitipupa had congratulated the school management led by the school Principal , Mrs. Ajibolade , whom he described as an Amazon with a larger than life can – do spirit. Oba Adetoye said the students of Idepe High School are lucky to have such a great mobiliser and astute school Administrator as their Principal. While commending the management for the lofty idea of the Award ceremony, Jegun of Idepe appealed to all stakeholders to support Idepe High School and Mrs Ajibolade’s bid to move the school to greater heights.
The Tutor General, Teaching Service Commission , Okitipupa who was represented by the Director , TESCOM Okitipupa, Mr. Ojo, noted with delight that Idepe High School is remembering the old students of the school and it is carrying them along in the scheme of things. Mr. Ojo charged other school Administrators in the area to embark on same lofty programmes in their respective schools.
In his reaction while speaking with thepolity.net at the event, an old student of the school, Barr. Donald Ajibola Morebise charged the students of Idepe High School to show commitment to their studies and move away from any act that can jeopardize their career and future. He frowned at examination malpractice which he noted has become the norm among students of secondary schools , appealing to the students not to indulge in exam malfeasance as it destroys students’ ability to believe in their own God given knowledge. Barr. Morebise noted that he will support Idepe High School in the area of human capacity development as well as provide assistance in the aspect of equipping the school library.
Secretary to Ondo State Government, Barr. Princess Oladunni Odu was ably represented by Princess Adetutu at the event.
The awardees are Late Chief Robert Fanise Olumekun recognised posthumously in the category of ‘ School Builder Award’ and was represented by Prof. Olumekun of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko; Barr. princess Oladunni Odu who was recognised as a school builder with a commitment to selfless service to her constituency and beyond and Hon. Michael Adeniyi Negwo Omogbehin.
Others are Late High Chief Maclean Adenogun Olafeso ( school support award), Late Chief Folayan Samuel Fasipe ( School support Award), Chief Engr. Idris Aloma Oluwole Bagudu, Prof. Anthony Enisan Akinlo, Mr. Bamidele Omosehin, Late Chief Clement Olorunfemi Monehin, High Chief Jacob Igbekele Akeremale , Revd. Joseph Akinyode Omobuwajo and Pa Reuben Ayodele Olabisi.
Also among the distinguished awardees are Mr. Joseph Oluwole Olokungbemi , Prof. Adekunle Olatumile, Barr. Prince Donald Ajibola Morebise and Princess Elizabeth Aarinola Amire ( nee Aiyeku).
The recipients assured the school management of reaching out to the school to handle projects that will engender the development of Idepe High School.
