The Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, OON, has commended the Federal Government over its dual mandate policy for teacher training in Federal Colleges of Education across the country.
Faduyile, who is a former Chairman, Committee of Chairmen of Governing Councils of Federal Colleges of Education (FCEs), said the policy will allow students of Colleges of Education to seamlessly bag degrees in Education without undue stress.
The lawmaker stated this in his goodwill message at the Chairmen Summit 2026 held at the Ukeje Hall, National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) Headquarters, Garki, Abuja, on Thursday, October 29.
He saluted the Council Chairmen for holding forth and shouldering the responsibility of harnessing government policies for teacher education in Nigeria, as they collaborate with Provosts of the Federal Colleges of Education towards fostering the growth of the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).
At the summit, Senator Faduyile was honoured with a Recognition Award of Excellence for his robust contributions to the Council during his tenure as Chairman, Committee of Chairmen of Governing Councils of Federal Colleges of Education.
It would be recalled that the Federal College of Education, Kontagora, where Prof. Faduyile served as Chairman of Council, eventually evolved into a Federal University of Education, with Faduyile emerging as the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council.
Speaking at the summit on the theme, “The Nexus of Good Governance, Leadership and Teacher Education in Nigeria,” the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmed, said the Committee of Chairmen of Councils over the years has strengthened institutional accountability and demonstrated purposeful leadership that has continued to stimulate stability and deepen institutional collaboration between Council and Management.
