Faduyile Pledges Legislative Backing For NRS Reforms

By Steve Ovirih.

The Senator representing Ondo South Senatorial District, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, OON, has pledged the cooperation of the National Assembly towards consolidating the ongoing reforms of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS).

Faduyile made the pledge on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 during a courtesy visit to the Medium and Emerging Taxpayers Directorate of the NRS at the Revenue House, Central Business District, Abuja.

The lawmaker, who commended the Executive Director, Medium and Emerging Taxpayers Directorate, Mrs. Bolaji Akintola, for her support and commitment to service, said though his background is in Medicine, his membership of the Senate has availed him insights into the commendable reforms being implemented by the NRS.

According to him, he will collaborate with the Directorate and provide legislative inputs to drive the successes of the Service.

“I am aware of the commendable reforms being put in place by the Nigeria Revenue Service and I will collaborate with the Directorate and be at the forefront of legislative inputs that will engender the strides of the Directorate,” Faduyile stated.

In her response, Mrs. Akintola congratulated the Senator on his election, noting that the Red Chamber would benefit from his rich professional experience. She described the lawmaker’s support as a welcome development that would strengthen the revenue reforms championed by the Service.

She stressed that building a great Nigeria requires concerted efforts of all stakeholders, adding that the NRS plays a vital role in ensuring government has sufficient funds to implement its development agenda.

Also speaking, the Group Director, Emerging Taxpayers Group, Mr. Olufemi Oyebanji, thanked Senator Faduyile for the visit, describing the Medium and Emerging Taxpayers Directorate as one of the biggest Directorates in the NRS.

Oyebanji explained that the Directorate handles over 90 per cent of Nigerian businesses, covering all taxpayers who are not captured under the Large Taxpayers category.

He said the Directorate comprises the Medium Taxpayers Group and the Emerging Taxpayers Group, both under the leadership of Mrs. Akintola as Executive Director.

According to him, the Directorate ensures compliance through end-to-end services, robust audit programmes, tax education and proactive taxpayer engagement.

Other officials present at the meeting included Mrs. Deborah Tafa, Dr. Kehinde Ikuyinminu and Mr. Sunday Ikudabo.
