There is a time to observe goings-on in the polity; there is a time to mind one’s business; a time comes when leadership beckons for those endowed with the right mindset to shoulder the challenge and responsibility of leading their people. In the political firmament of Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, making up one of the federal constituencies from Ondo State, it is ‘leadership o’clock’ for Hon. Pst. Mrs. Grace Olumuyiwa Abebi Adeniseun, nee Aruwajoye, the Owo born political amazon and philanthropist.
Let’s begin the evaluation on a critical note: does Owo/Ose Federal Constituency deserve quality leadership? Your guess, I guess tallies with mine-yes!
Are mothers better home makers the world over? No doubt yes! Whatever leadership position that men have held on to in life, given that such position is ceded to women, will the feminine gender do better? Records all over the world are in the affirmative that what a man can do a woman can do better. Besides, the consideration motivating Grace Olumuyiwa Abebi is more grandee than the gender indication, understandably, no woman has emerged till date as the Representative of the noble people of Owo/Ose Federal Constituency.
Abebi is first and foremost a consummate and ethical humanist with compassion for the indigent, poor and needy as her creed. Facts speak evidentially: Grace Olumuyiwa Abebi Adeniseun boasts of a Home where care flows from her heart to the well-being of the kids she care for. The GRACE GREG Compassion Home has it on record that over 150 vulnerable children have passed through the Home and have merged into the society no more as vulnerable ‘youngies’ but responsible members of the society.
What is more? Over 20 students are currently in the university benefitting from Abebi’s scholarship effort while many of her scholarship beneficiaries cut across Technical Colleges and secondary schools across Owo/Ose ; this is quintessential Abebi projecting into the future strong academically oriented youth population who will add positively to the society. Charity work, you may call it, but more than that, this is Abebi laying foundation of youthful empowerment that the society can rely on tomorrow; this is the power of imagination of a lofty future for the youths, the power of innovation by a leader with her eyes on the future and the Abebi’s can-do spirit visualizing a futuristic legacy.
As the coast becomes clear for a new leadership personage to represent the good people of Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Grace Olumuyiwa Abebi Adeniseun, the daughter of Aruwajoye boldly offers herself for leadership. The men have represented the Federal Constituency for quite innumerable years from 1999 till date; the likes of Hon Michael Omotosho, Hon Lad Alaba Ojomo, Hon.Olabode Ayorinde, and Hon. Timilehin Adelegbe. Quality representation they have offered no doubt, but in sync with the affirmative action that recognizes the role of women in representative democracy, Mrs. Grace Abebi Adeniseun has come full circle as ‘ the woman of Grace’ whose quality leadership credentials are most needed to continue the leadership benchmark.
The time to make our women in Owo/Ose Federal Constituency to matter and be given the concession to improve on the little our hegemonic men have offered so far in Owo/Ose Federal Constituency is now.
