Armed men have kidnapped a senior political figure in a brazen daytime attack in Igbokoda, Ondo State. The victim is Prince Emorioloye Owoloemi, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Witnesses say the kidnappers struck around 9 a.m. on Thursday. They arrived in two Hilux vehicles at the Okonga/Olodo Junction, where Owoloemi’s office is located, and forcefully took him away.
Since the abduction, all attempts to contact Owoloemi have failed. The kidnappers have not yet made any contact with his family to start negotiations for his release.
The Local Government Chairman, Hon. Maurice Oripenaye, condemned the act. He called it a criminal attack carried out in a busy commercial area in broad daylight, which is shocking and unacceptable.
Oripenaye stated the council received the report with great concern. He said the incident is a direct attack on public safety and the peace of the Ilaje people.
This kidnapping has raised serious fears about security in the area, highlighting the boldness of criminal groups targeting prominent individuals even during the day.
