Head on collision claims eight at Bagbe, Ondo/ Ore Highway.

A fatal autocrash along the Bagbe axis of Ondo / Ore Highway has caused the death of eight passengers. The accident which occured Monday morning happened between a commercial vehicle and a truck.

According to an eyewitness , the Haice bus which was coming from the Akure route attempted to overtake another vehicle and as it was almost about to complete the overtaking effort, it met with a truck coming from the other end and suffered an unavoidable collision.

Passengers were trapped in the bus as the crash eventually led to a long traffic jam , while eight passengers were reported dead in the commercial bus. Other victims of the crash who suffered varying degrees of injuries were rushed to the hospital.

An officer of The Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) who spoke with newsmen on condition of anonimity said the head on collision was caused by the violation of speed limits by the Hiace bus driver who veered off his lane while making an attempt to overtake the vehicle that was driving ahead of the driver.
