Concerns over the safety of citizens expressing opinions online have intensified in Kano State following the killing of social media commentator, Ibrahim Khalil Dan Shagamu, in the Gaida area of Kumbotso Local Government Area. Dan Shagamu was reportedly attacked inside his residence on Monday night by unknown assailants who allegedly gained entry into his home before killing him with sharp objects. The Kano State Police Command said the attack was reported by the Vigilante Group Commander in Gaida, leading to the arrest of two suspects in connection with the incident.
