-Steve Ovirih.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Akeem Odumosu has shed more light on how the new COVID 19 curfew protocol in Lagos is being enforced. Speaking on Channels TV prime time session monitored from our studio, the top cop in charge of Lagos cleared the doubt raised in some quarters that security personnel are in one way or the other compromising the dusk to dawn curfew imposed on Lagos and its environ.

Mr Odumosu said Lagosians have devised means of beating the curfew even as travellers are very desperate to get into Lagos. He noted that people are quick to jump to conclusions about the police without considering the fact that motorists know virtually all the hidden routes through which they can get into any part of Lagos without being caught.

The Commissioner of Police said enforcing the curfew by his men is not combative but persuasive, stressing that people should bear in mind that the motive behind imposing curfew by Lagos government is to help reduce the chances of people gathering to start night life in the Lagos metropolis, adding that it is not yet Uhuru with the Coronavirus pandemic.

He noted that the level of compliance with the curfew has improved better than two days back. He however promised Lagosians that his officers and men will put human face into the enforcement of the new curfew regime.

Mr. Hakeem Odumosu however warned miscreants by whatever name they are tagged to keep off Lagos because his men are poised to deal with them ruthlessly.

He noted that his men have located position not just at the Berger entry point, but have moved down to OPIC Estate , a vantage point from where they can sport offenders who may want to take advantage of the entry point at odd hours to cross into Lagos, stressing that his men have also moved to the Lagos/Sango otta boundary for same purpose. Odumosu called on Lagosians to keep to the new instructions on the newly imposed curfew in Lagos State.
