National President, Nigeria Medical Association, (NMA), and national delegates of NMA have paid a courtesy call on the Vice Chancellor , Lagos State University, LASU, Prof. Olanrewaju Fagboun, SAN.
The President of NMA, Dr. Dayo Faduyile in the course of the august visit told Prof Fagboun that the association deemed it very fit to appreciate the exemplary leadership approach of the LASU VC , whom he described as a square peg in a square hole. While pledging the support of NMA , Dr. Faduyile said the association was pleased that members in Lasu are given sensitive position and also that the labour challenges, student unrests and lock down that the university was known for in the time past have all been stamped out of the system. He equally saluted the mutual working relationship between Lasu and Lasucom, noting that the administration of Prof Fagboun has returned the university to its pride of place in the comity of Nigerian universities.
In his remarks, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, SAN, appreciated Dr. Faduyile and his NMA team for their timely visit .
He told them that he will always appreciate the cooperation he has enjoyed from members of staff of the university since he has assumed duty as the Vice Chancellor, maintaining that their laudable contribution to the wave of peace and labor harmony in the institution cannot be overemphasized.
Fagbohun said in the past years, LASU was synonymous to crisis , lock down and labour issues but with the need to understand ourselves at the different level of administration of the university, ” we resolved to have an inclusive engagement and all of us began to work together as a formidable team, hence the industrial peace and a hitch free academic calendar in the university.
The senior counsel and university administrator noted that while NMA appreciates his administration for recognizing some members of NMA and appointing them to positions in the University, their appointment was not based on sentiments . ” The university is very eager to give appointments to those who can deliver and NMA members in the University have shown just exactly the fact that they are driven by the urge to deliver and raise the standard of the university.”
While saluting Dr. Faduyile whom he described as a fine export of the university, he made it very clear that the university’s college of Medicine has become the flagship Medical college in Nigeria. He said the Lingo in Lasu is , ” we are Lasu , we are proud,” but Lasucom has rebranded it to, ” we are Lasucom, the pride of Lasu.”
