The Abodi of Ikale Land, Oba Faduyile’s Education scholarship Foundation has awarded a grant-in-aid running into millions of naira to twelve indigent secondary school students across schools in Ikale Land.

The presentation of the scholarship offer to the awardees held at Ikoya Grammar school on Tuesday, the 19th of November.
Program manager of the foundation, Mr. Kunle Awotula in his opening address at the event appreciated the commitment of the Oba Faduyile Education Foundation to the plight of the financially less privileged in the society, noting that the foundation has consistently engaged in this community social responsibility gesture in the past eleven years. Mr. Awotula, while congratulating the awardees encouraged them to take their studies more seriously, noting that the foundation will not tolerate a relapse in the academic performance of any of the awardees.
Talking about the yardstick of selecting the awardees, Mr Awotula said the foundation wrote a letter to all the secondary schools in Ikale Land , soliciting their assistance in identifying students who are brilliant but financially handicapped. “After the selection process, we invited students presented by the different schools for an aptitude examination and from there the best twelve were chosen. We now embarked on a visitation to the homes of the chosen ones and our visitation helped us to understand the challenges these young ones have , which could erect obstacles to their academic performance.

“Some do not have parents and some who have parents, such parents are not gainfully employed, hence the resolve of the foundation to bail them out with the scholarship offer from which they will pay their school fees and cater to buying textbooks alongside other academic demands,” Mr . Kunle Awotula noted.

In his remark, Dr. Joseph Monehin, another Program Manager of the foundation said the awardees are expected to continue to be of good behavior both at home and in the school, stressing that the foundation shall keep a tab on the record of their academic performance. Dr. Monehin also warned them not to for any reason participate in examination malpractice , stressing that the foundation will not hesitate to withdraw the scholarship offer from any awardee that will indulge in examination malpractice of any kind.

The Olori Abodi of Ikale, Olori Grace Faduyile congratulated the awardees and encouraged them to always remember that the reward for success and hard work is more hard work.

Reacting from the audience, Mr .Omosule, Vice Principal, Methodist High school, Okitipupa, thanked the foundation for their kind gesture. He said if there are other foundation like the Abodi Education Foundation dispensing patronage for indigent students, so many poor students will get a lift in life , and this will even encourage students generally to work hard for academic excellence.
Among the awardees are: Ilutuse Mary, Idowu Dorcas, Adedowo Omolade , Adenaya Titilope and Adesusi Omolewa, all from Ikoya Grammar School.

Others are Makanbi Taiwo from Ayeka/Igbodigo/Okegbala High school, Akinmoye Joy
from Methodist High school Okitipupa, Alaba Motunrayo from Stella Maris College Okitipupa, Akinwumi Joshua from Community Grammar School, Igbotako and Akindele Tobi from Manuwa Memorial Grammar School, Iju Odo.

In a media chat with thepolity.net, Program Manager , Dr Joseph Monehin who is with USAID Bangladesh, said the children of Oba George Faduyile, being fully aware that financial handicap is always an albatross to the height indigent students can attain in life, feel obliged to give back to the society through the foundation. He said the awardees will enjoy the scholarship through out their secondary school, noting that they must ensure that their performance at the end of each session is stellar and encouraging.

One of the awardees, Miss Ilutuse Mary from Ikoya Grammar School thanked Oba Faduyile Education Foundation for their kind gesture.
