Olabode Omoyele hails Faduyile over thanksgiving, sets development agenda for Ondo South
An All Progressives Congress,APC Chieftain,Mr. Olabode Omoyele has congratulated the Senator representing Ondo South, Distinguished Senator Prof. Dayo Faduyile, on his victory in the senatorial by-election, his Thanksgiving Service and Grand Reception.
Faduyile, a former National President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), was declared winner of the by-election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) after polling 68,474 votes across the six local governments of the district – Okitipupa, Ilaje, Ese-Odo, Irele, Odigbo and Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo.
The seat became vacant following the appointment of Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
In a congratulatory message personally signed by him, Olabode said Senator Faduyile’s emergence reflects the confidence reposed in him by the people of Ondo South.
“On behalf of myself, my family and associates, I heartily congratulate Distinguished Senator Prof. Dayo Faduyile on his resounding victory. Your emergence is a testament to your capacity, character and antecedents,” Omoyele said.
He said as the senator returns to God in thanksgiving, his tenure should usher in a new era of development for the senatorial district.
Olabode however, tasked the new senator on five key development priorities for Ondo South.
According to him, the senator must champion coastal infrastructure, particularly the completion of the 28.5km Aboto-Atijere Road and the 4.72km Ugbonla-Erunna Bridge with a bridge across Erunna River, and ensure that Ilaje communities are not excluded from the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway project.
He also urged Faduyile to push for urgent Federal Government intervention on shoreline protection and land reclamation, noting that communities such as Ayetoro, Obe-Nla and Jirinwo are threatened by ocean surge.
On social amenities, Omoyele called for expansion of the Aboto Water Scheme upgrade, takeover and rehabilitation of the NDDC water tank in Igbokoda, and extension of rural electrification with distribution of prepaid meters to Ilaje and Ese-Odo.
“As a Professor of Medicine, Ondo South looks up to you to improve our health institutions – the General Hospital at Agadagba-Obon and riverine PHCs – and to champion educational projects, including the School of Maritime Transport and Logistics at OAUSTECH, Ugbonla, and the planned renovation of 21 public schools,” he added.
The politician and Real Estate Mogul further charged the senator to leverage his position for accountability in OSOPADEC and NDDC and drive investment in the blue economy, including fish processing, deep-sea port linkages and youth employment.
He expressed confidence that Faduyile would be a loud, credible and compassionate voice for Ondo South in the National Assembly, stressing that his victory is an opportunity for a fresh start for the district.
