Ondo South Senate: Oladunni Odu, a round peg in a round hole

 

It’s no longer news that there’s a vacancy on Ondo South Senatorial seat after the occupant, Sen. Jimoh Ibrahim was appointed as an ambassadorial designate by President Bola Tinubu.

 

Among arrays of contestants for the seat, Princess Catherine Oladuni Odu, remain the only round peg to sit confortably in a round hole of Ondo South Senatorial District, for constituents to enjoy greater and better dividends of democracy.

 

Barrister Oladunni Odu, a versatile lawyer, tested and trusted politician who knows her onions, has been in the corridor of politics for ages, with credible achievements and has since become a trusted ally of the people.

 

The Idepe-Okitipupa heiress to the throne of the royal dynasty of the Akindele’s, has weathered the storm, also toiled night and day to become relevant, not by proxy but through hard work and consistency which perfected the saying “What a man can do, a woman can do better”

 

Princess Oladunni Odu, an astute politician, was first appointed as the Commissioner for Education, Ondo State from 1995 to1999, and later appointed Commissioner for Women Affairs, Ondo State from Jan.1999 to May 1999.

 

The versatile politician was also appointed, Chairman, Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) from Sept. 2003 to Febr. 2009, and her span of years on the board was responsible for her great achievement which ranges from critical reforms in primary and secondary education and consolidated on development of education in the the state till date.

 

Oladunni Odu during her time as SUBEB chairman, also built and renovated several primary and secondary schools infrastructures and as well took the welfare of teachers, pupils and students as her greatest priority.

 

Her great achievement at the board awarded her the first female Secretary to the State Government (SSG) during the second tenure of late Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s administration.

 

Oladunni Odu, as the SSG also brought her political experience to bear in the new designation and performed exceedingly beyond expectations of all and sundry until the last day in office.

 

From the scorecard of Princess Catherine Oladunni Odu, it has shown that she was not a run of the mill politician but a versatile, astitute and credible politician who has positioned herself as a round peg which would fit in the round hole of Ondo South Senatorial District.

 

Ondo South constituents, let’s give our support to the best aspirant to occupy the seat at the National Assembly for greater.amd better dividends of democracy.
