Following the bloody clash between the Hausa residents of the Sabo area of Ile-Ife and some Yorubas of Ife descent, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has set up a Truth and Reconciliation committe to examine the cause of the clash and proffer solution that will foster peaceful co-existence among the residents and settlers of the ancient city of Ile-Ife.

Earlier, the paramount ruler had registered his regret over such a disturbing development in Ife, noting that he was disturbed about the clash between indignes and settlers.

The committee is headed by the Obalufe, Oba Idowu Adediwura, with the following as members : the Jaran, High Chief Ademola Adeyeye; the Wasin of Ilare , High Chief Zacheus Olamodesi and Seriki Hausa, Alhaji Mamuda Madagali.

Other members are the Eze ndigbo of Ife, Ezekiel Onyejekde, Otota of Urhobo, David Akpomedaye ; chairman Modakeke progressive Union, Mr Tajudeen Oke and security agencies. Senator Jide Omoworare will advise the committe.

Meanwhile, it has been established that there was no political undertone whatsoever to the communal clash. Speaking at a briefing over the communal strife in the town, President of Ife Progressive forum, Lawrence Awowoyin maintained that what led to the clash was an altercation over a land dispute between a Yoruba man and the Hausa community. He also stressed that while the crisis was an offshoot of a misunderstanding between two people of different tribes, it was unfortunate that hoodlums hijacked the situation at the Sabo area where the crisis had earlier started.
