Operation crocodile smile in Ondo south: Abodi sues for cooperation
The Naquara barracks Okitipupa played host to the nation’s security apparatus on Wednesday, the 13th of November as the Chief of Army staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai , who was represented by Big.Gen Thomas Ogunsugba launched “operation crocodile smile” in the southern senatorial district of Ondo state.
While officially announcing the effective take off of the special security unit, the Chief of Army staff noted that the government of Nigeria takes seriously the security of lives and property in every part of the country, stressing that the army command has been inundated with the growing wave of insecurity in the senatorial district. He said beside the oil rigs in the coastal Waters of Ondo state, which has encouraged oil theft and bunkering, other criminal indices such as armed robbery and kidnapping have been on the increase. He therefore warned people of shady character and criminal minded elements in the southern senatorial district to quit now as any further criminal attempt on individuals or government facilities will thwarted by the combined forces making up the crocodile smile special unit.
While assuring the public of their safety, Gen. Buratai noted that the crocodile will smile on peace loving Nigerians in the district but will figuratively “smile at criminals in a way that will stop them in their criminal tracks and haunt them until they are hurled behind bars.
While inspecting the special gaurd of honour, Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, represented by the Secretary to the state government, Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde noted that the government of Ondo state is quite appreciative of the kind gesture of the Nigerian armed forces to rid the state of criminal activities. He said the crocodile smile special unit will receive all the necessary support of the state government.
On the fringe of the inauguration of operation crocodile smile at Naquara barracks, Okitipupa, the Abodi of Ikale Land, His Royal Majesty, Oba George Faduyile while speaking with thepolity.net called for the cooperation of the people of Ikale Land and the other zones making up the Ondo southern senatorial district. Abodi Oba George Faduyile said the army have given assurance that those who will conduct themselves well will not in anyway be confronted or harrased by “the smiling crocodile ” but for the criminal elements, the special security intervention unit will smoke them out so that our respective communities can be rid of crime at this yuletide season.

Operation crocodile smile shall provide a special security window along all the major routes cutting across the entire Ondo Southern senatorial district during the Christmas festive period.
