PDP Faction in Bauchi Accuses Governor of Intimidation, Issues Ultimatum.

A breakaway group within Bauchi State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has directly accused Governor Bala Mohammed of fostering a climate of fear. The faction’s new caretaker committee warned that the governor will be held responsible if any harm comes to its members or supporters.

The committee, appointed by a national faction aligned with FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, made the declaration in Abuja on Tuesday. While pledging to be peaceful and law-abiding, spokesman Jungudo Haruna Mohammed stated their stance “should not be misconstrued as a sign of fear or weakness.”

The group firmly rejected the legitimacy of the PDP’s recent national convention in Ibadan, which elected the Kabiru Turaki-led leadership. They called the event illegal, citing a lack of supervision by the electoral commission, INEC, and disregard for court orders.

“The committee will therefore discharge its legal and constitutional responsibilities without any fear,” Mohammed stated. He argued that political meetings with former governors or lawmakers do not grant legitimacy, which he said comes only from obeying the party’s constitution and court rulings.

In a bold move, the committee issued a 14-day ultimatum for occupants of PDP secretariats across Bauchi State to vacate the premises. They described the current occupants as “illegal” and warned that failure to leave would attract “lawful consequences.”

This development signals a deepening rift within the opposition party in Bauchi, pitting a faction backed by a powerful minister against the state governor. The public accusation and ultimatum escalate tensions ahead of future elections.
